Description:
On 16th January 2020 Fr. Joseph Manipadamhanded over charge of the CBCI Office for Education and Culture to the new National Secretary Fr. Maria Charles who had been selected for the job by the Standing Committee Meeting of Bishops earlier. Fr. Manipadam has completed his seven years of Service by the end of November 2019. Archbishop Thomas D’Souza, Chairman for the Office of Education and Culture presided over the event of the handing over chargeat 3.30 pm on 16th January, 2020 in front of the Fathers and Sisters and the Deputy Secretary General, Fr. Jervis D’Souza and the CBCI staff.A symbolic lamp was handed over to the new secretary, Fr. Maria Charles. The File with all the financial matters and the Keys of the office were also handed over. After the formalities of handing over and words of gratitude and welcome tea and snacks were served to all present. At 6.00 pm Archbishop Thomas D’Souza was the main celebrant at the Holy Mass concelebrated by Fr. Joseph Manipadam and Fr. Maria Charles and participated by the CBCI office secretaries and representatives from the nearby religious communities, Archbishop’s house, cathedral parish and the Salesian communities and representations of education associations. The Holy Mass was followed by an extremely well organiszed get-together and dinner during which the participants spontaneously shared their experiences working and living with Fr. Joseph Manipadam as the Salesian Community of SPCSA Don Boscohouse welcomed him back to the salesian family. The participants expressed their joy and welcomed Fr. Maria Charles whole heartedly to continue the good works rendered for the church in India by Fr. Joseph Manipadam. The entire programme was masterminded by Fr. Jervis D’Souza, the Deputy Secretary General, CBCI. The master of ceremonies was Fr. Stephen Fernandez. Chairman Archbishop Thomas D’Souza addressing words of thanks and welcome Fr.
